This is just a small update, but still an important one! After training on children’s rights and child abuse, the percent of parents who refrain from severe and abusive punishment jumped from 70% to 90%. We are so grateful for all the volunteer leaders and local church partners who are working hard to improve their community!
When the partnership with Kamonyi began, a number of poverty-related factors kept many children from attending school regularly. Health issues, inability to pay fees, families needing kids to help augment their income, access to teachers and classrooms – these barriers meant that only 25% of kids achieved at least an 80% attendance record.
As of 2011, that has really turned around as each barrier gets addressed. We’re pleased to share that now 90% of children are able to have a 100% attendance record!
This is the kind of success that made Busekera village so excited to partner with FH. We're excited to start the next ten-ish years walking together to sustainability!

Slave Lake Alliance Church just sponsored 4 children from Busekera! Excited to walk with these kids and see how we are all changed in the process.
