When people understand their poverty AND their strengths, they feel they can contribute - they can participate in their own development!
Savings and Learning Groups are places where participants learn vital skills together, starting with literacy and numeracy. Leadership and business skills are developed. Group savings provide financial security and a base for group investment, and group members use their skills to start self sufficient businesses.

The numbers are in - Community Savings Groups are making a huge impact!
Due to lack of education on how to make use of small personal loans, many were taking loans to be used for disposable income. And sadly unable to generate new income to help meet their needs, much less pay back the loan.
But, since Community Savings Groups were started only a few years ago, the equivalent of over $15,000 CAD has since been saved! And over 360 small loans have been given by community members to other community members for income-generating business plans.
