Great news! San Cristobal has graduated as a self-sustaining community!
FH Canada has been working in San Cristobal, a region north of Guatemala City, since 2000. A new water pipeline, access to education and health care, medical centres stocked with equipment and supplies – these are just a few of the milestones these families have reached in their fight to end poverty. The children in this region are now practicing proper hygiene and thriving in their education and families are confident in their ability to build strong futures. FH is so proud of all this community has achieved; we have stepped back financially but will continue our relationship with San Cristobal at a peer level.

Background:
San Cristobal spans over more than 10 square kilometers, separated from the capital by a canyon, which had made it previously very difficult to develop. FH Canada worked to improve this situation for some of the highest affected communities through a new water pipeline project, child education, medical equipment distribution and post-secondary education sponsorship.
